Mid-Term: Sokoto PDP Leader Commends Governor On Project Deliveries

As Governor Ahmed Aliyu marks two years in office, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar Dingyadi, has commended the governor’s strides in infrastructural development, political cohesion, and service delivery.

Despite being in the opposition, Dingyadi praised the governor’s performance and called for continued focus on unity and public welfare.

In a statement issued in Sokoto, Dingyadi described Governor Aliyu’s tenure as “remarkably progressive,” citing tangible developments across several sectors, including road infrastructure, education, health care, and urban beautification.

“Governor Aliyu has demonstrated a commendable commitment to the development of Sokoto State. His administration’s work on beautification projects, construction and rehabilitation of township roads, schools, and public health facilities deserves recognition,” Dingyadi stated.

He acknowledged that while the administration has not been without its shortcomings, especially in security and water provision, the achievements made thus far outweigh the challenges.

“Yes, there are areas that require more attention, particularly in terms of security and water supply, especially in the state capital and the eastern axis of the state. But overall, the progress made in the past two years is worthy of commendation,” he said.

Dingyadi, who is known for his advocacy for political tolerance, called for unity among Sokoto’s political actors regardless of party affiliations.

“We must approach our political and individual differences with respect and understanding. Fostering unity and engaging in constructive dialogue is key to moving the state forward,” he advised.

He cautioned against politicizing insecurity, stressing that threats to peace and safety affect all citizens, regardless of political alignment.

“It’s crucial to avoid politicizing insecurity. Our common enemies do not discriminate in their attacks. This is a collective challenge that requires collective responsibility,” Dingyadi warned.

The PDP leader further urged the people of Sokoto State to refrain from abusive language and divisive rhetoric that could undermine governance and social cohesion.

“Using foul language or engaging in mudslinging does not help the state. Such behavior only damages institutions and fosters disunity. What we need is responsible, respectful discourse focused on solutions, not attacks,” he said.

Looking ahead, Dingyadi called on the state government to intensify efforts in addressing lingering challenges, especially security threats and the chronic water shortage in many communities.

“The government must work more closely with the federal authorities to improve security across the state. It is also important to find lasting solutions to the water crisis that continues to affect large parts of Sokoto,” he advised.

While reiterating his commendation for Governor Aliyu’s mid-term performance, Dingyadi emphasized the importance of sustaining the momentum through inclusive governance, transparency, and people-focused policies.

“Leadership is about service. The governor has started well, and with continued dedication and responsiveness to the people’s needs, Sokoto can achieve even greater progress in the years to come,” he concluded.
