Massive Resignation Hits Abia PDP

Massive resignations and defections have hit the Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party following the collapse of the Ward Executives of Bende North State Constituency of Abia into the Labour Party.

This is coming after Hon. Ibekwe Nnamdi Chimdi, the lawmaker representing the constituency, resigned from the PDP.

Following the resignation of the member from the PDP in a letter addressed to the party on Wednesday, over 300 party faithful have also resigned their membership from the party.

They cited reasons ranging from instability within the PDP and leadership failure as reasons for their actions.

THE WHISTLER confirmed 14 out of 17 Ward Executives in Igbere Ward A, including Ogba Agbai Nwachukwu, Martha Johnson, and Nwachukwu Emenike Iheaka, among others, have resigned from the PDP through their separate letters.

They told this outlet that they will follow Hon Ibekwe to any party he decides to join.

Defectors, including Chibuzo Ihebuche, Ogbonnaya Ijeoma, and Chinonyerem Samuel, among others, said the irredeemable crises rocking the PDP are enough reason for their decision to quit the party.

Also, Ukwu Friday Ihemelandu, Chukwu Chikwendu Orji, and Christiana Sunday, in their separate letters of resignation, expressly stated they have “ported to the Labour Party”, a signal that Hon Nnamdi might possibly be headed in the same direction.

The next destination of Hon Ibekwe Nnamdi Chimdi and his numerous loyalists is expected to change the configuration of politics in Bende North State Constituency.
