The ward chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Sunday Oche, has been reportedly slain by gunmen in Benue State’s Ado local government area.

Mr. Oche was ambushed and killed by unidentified gunmen while on his way to his farm with pals, according to reports.

According to an eyewitness, the gunmen shot and killed Mr. Oche, while five others escaped with significant bullet injuries.

A source close to the deceased, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told journalists that Oche arrived at the farm on a motorbike with five others.

According to the source, the deceased and his friends went to assist a widow on her farm before his untimely death.

“Those who went to the farm with the chairman came home with serious injuries, saying that they were attacked by bandits who also took their two motorcycles.”

However, the Spokesperson of the Benue State Command, SP Catherine Anene, said she was not aware of the incident at the time of filing this report.
