Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, witnessed heightened political activity on Saturday as several support groups backing the presidential aspiration of Dr Gbenga-Hashim converged on the city to mobilise grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The groups, operating under different platforms, declared Hashim as “their son” and pledged to mobilise support across the state and beyond for what they described as a credible and unifying leadership project for Nigeria.

Members of the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement said the gathering was aimed at strengthening existing support structures, expanding community outreach and deepening political engagement across Kebbi State.

The development was contained in a statement issued by the Gbenga Hashim Office and made available to THE WHISTLER Online on Sunday.

Speaking at the event, the leader of the movement in Kebbi State, Muhammad Mustapha Yauri, said the people of the state, particularly those from Yauri Emirate, felt a strong sense of responsibility to support Hashim, who was born in Yauri.

Yauri said Hashim’s background reflected national unity, noting that his late father was an indigene of Kebbi State while his mother is of Yoruba extraction. “This is the kind of leadership Nigeria needs—one that understands unity, inclusion and national integration,” he said.

The National Coordinator of the movement, Abdulrazaq Hamzat, commended supporters for their growing enthusiasm, describing Hashim as a capable leader with the competence and exposure required to address Nigeria’s challenges.

Hamzat said, “Dr Gbenga Hashim is a global businessman with the experience, knowledge and international networks needed to reset Nigeria’s development trajectory and place the country on a path of sustainable growth and shared prosperity.”

Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to Hashim, Kamaldeen Sani Adebayo, described the aspirant as a successful entrepreneur with business interests in several countries, adding that his decision to seek public office was driven by a desire to give back to the nation.

According to Adebayo, “Although he has never held public office, Dr Hashim believes that Nigeria deserves purposeful, transparent and people-centred leadership, and he is prepared to offer that.”

Earlier, the Kebbi State Coordinator of the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement, Mustapha Yauri, assured supporters that mobilisation efforts would be intensified across all local government areas of the state to ensure widespread awareness of Hashim’s presidential ambition.

In her remarks, a women leader at the event, Hajiya Hauwa, expressed optimism that a Hashim presidency would prioritise the welfare of women, particularly those in rural communities, through inclusive policies and economic empowerment initiatives.

She said, “Women will have better access to opportunities and support under a leadership that understands inclusion and development.”

A Peoples Democratic Party coordinator and former chairman of Shanga Local Government Area, Malam Garkuwa, urged supporters to sustain grassroots mobilisation to ensure the success of Hashim’s presidential bid.

Similarly, another support group coordinator, Garba Mohammed, represented by Engr Lawal, thanked the visiting delegation from Abuja and expressed confidence that a Hashim-led government would address insecurity and work for all Nigerians.
