Kaduna SDP Disowns El-Rufai

The Kaduna State chapter of the Social Democratic Party has disowned former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, over what it described as an “unauthorized” association with the party.

At a press conference in Kaduna on Friday, the SDP’s North-West Zonal Secretary, Alhaji Idris Inuwa, said El-Rufai was neither a member of the SDP nor mandated in any capacity to speak on its behalf.

He warned the public to disregard recent claims and appearances by the former governor suggesting he had any affiliation with the party.

“We unequivocally denounce the actions of Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai and his band of failed, meddlesome politicians who have repeatedly and fraudulently paraded themselves as representatives of our esteemed SDP in Kaduna State,” Inuwa stated.

The party’s latest declaration follows reports that El-Rufai had been seen at political meetings and policy gatherings where he allegedly claimed to represent the SDP. According to the party, such claims amount to impersonation, deception, and political mischief.

“Let this be made unequivocally clear: Malam El-Rufai is not authorized, mandated, or recognized by the SDP in any capacity to represent its interests, articulate its positions, or speak on its behalf.

“His actions were carried out entirely without the knowledge, consent, or approval of the party’s national leadership,” Inuwa said.

The party declared that El-Rufai has never been registered as a member of the Social Democratic Party.

It further clarified that the former governor had never been issued any letter of appointment, nomination, or had participated in the party’s official structures or deliberations.

“Our verified membership register contains no trace of him. He has never been issued a letter of appointment, nomination, or delegation in any capacity,” Inuwa noted.

According to him, neither the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee, nor any official organ of the SDP had ever engaged or endorsed El-Rufai in any manner.

The party said it viewed his actions as not only fraudulent but also calculated to sabotage the image of the party for self-serving purposes.

Consequently, the party announced a vote of no confidence in El-Rufai, declaring him persona non grata in all SDP affairs across the federation.

The party further called on all political stakeholders to disregard any insinuations that he speaks for or represents the SDP.

“This is an act of grave impersonation and reputational sabotage,” Inuwa said.

“El-Rufai’s actions represent the height of political desperation and deceit, and we want the world to know he does not and will never speak for our party.”

He accused the former governor of leveraging the SDP’s platform to create the illusion of political relevance after falling out with his previous political allies.

As of the time of filing this report, El-Rufai has not officially responded to the claims and accusations leveled against him by the SDP.

Efforts to reach his media aide, Muyiwa Adeleye, proved abortive, as calls and messages went unanswered.
