A former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has been named the chairman of the Policy and Manifesto Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Odigie-Oyegun was the pioneer National Chairman of the APC from June 2014 to June 2018 when he withdrew from the ruling party.

The opposition party unveiled the 50-member committee in Abuja on Wednesday, with a former APC National Vice Chairman (Northwest), Dr Salihu Lukman as its Secretary.

The ADC said it raised the committee in line with its commitment to building a credible, people-centred, and forward-looking policy framework for national governance.

Renown political economist and social critic, Prof Pat Utomi will serve as the committee’s deputy chairman while a United States based professor, Chidi Odinkalu is a member.

Also on the membership list are
Sen. Gershon Bassey, Member
Sen. Akpan Udo Uduedehe,
Amb Abiye Mohammed,
Simon Achuba,
Prof. Ibrahim Garba,
Bala Usman and Ose Anenih among others.

The ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, said on Wednesday that the committee members, collectively, represent a wealth of experience in governance, economic management, social development, security, and democratic reform.

The committee is tasked with articulating a clear, coherent, and credible policy direction that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians and positions the ADC as a serious alternative platform for responsible leadership and national renewal.

The formal inauguration of the committee has been scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026, at 12 noon, at the Conference Hall of the ADC National Secretariat, Abuja.

The party reaffirmed its belief that Nigeria’s challenges require ideas rooted in competence, integrity, and national consensus, and expressed confidence that the committee will deliver a manifesto that speaks to the real needs of Nigerians.
