Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso Reuniting, Planning Possible Merger For 2027 – PDP

The Deputy National Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ibrahim Abdullahi, has said former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, his one-time running mate, Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are reuniting and planning a possible merger ahead of 2027.

Nigeria’s next round of elections will be held in 2027 where more than half of the candidates for governors, the entire National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly will be elected.

In 2022, Obi defected to the Labour Party where he emerged as the candidate ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Kwankwaso also defected and became the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The three candidates lost the election to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

Already, there has been a permutation that if the three politicians joined forces, they could wrest power from the APC especially as there is increased hardship which led to the protest in August.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Monday, Abdullahi said the three opposition candidates in the last elections would put personal interests aside and form a formidable alliance to defeat the APC in 2027.

He said the target of the three leading politicians is to salvage the country from hunger.

He said, “We’ve lost Kwankwaso, we’ve lost Peter Obi, all of these people; imagine if they were in the party, we would have won the elections.

“We’ve lost Kwankwaso, we’ve lost Peter Obi, all of these people; imagine if they were in the party, we would have won the elections.

“This APC said they defeated us with one million plus (votes); just one of these names that I mentioned would have covered that gap for us, and we would have been in power today, and certainly Nigerians would not have been confronted with this despair and despondency in the land,” he said.
