APC Denies Plans To Destabilize ADC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied it has plotted to destabilise the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

It said the claim of a secret plot by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to destabilise the party was untrue and described the opposition’s allegations as “wildly imagined,” “unsubstantiated,” and “politically mischievous.”

A statement issued on Monday by the ADC spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, alleged that state chairmen from the North East and North West were summoned to a secret meeting with federal officials in a bid to intimidate and coerce the party’s leadership, citing what it called “credible intelligence.”

The ADC further accused the ruling party of attempting to fracture the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The coalition had adopted the ADC as its political party for the 2027 general elections.

But reacting Tuesday, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed the claims as “fictitious” and accused the ADC of manufacturing lies to cover up its internal instability.

“Clearly, there was no such meeting, and certainly, no one could have been coerced or intimidated at a meeting that never was,” Morka said.

“This could have happened only in the warped imagination of masters of deception and marauding invaders of the ADC.”

The APC spokesman accused the ADC of raising false alarms to divert attention from its internal leadership crisis, which he claimed stemmed from a “gestapo-like takeover” by political opportunists.

“There is no reason for Mr. President or APC to expend valuable time and energy trying to sow confusion within the ADC that is already mortally wounded by confusion delivered by its invaders,” Morka stated.

“The ADC needs no help from our great party to unravel, as it must from its own internal dissonance, contradictions and discord of self-serving and vainglorious personalities.”

Morka described the ADC’s leadership as lacking credibility, calling the opposition coalition a gathering of “failed and restless presidential contenders” with no alternative vision for the country.

“What good can possibly come out of a coalition of our country’s most inept politicians and architects of misrule, corruption, poverty and underdevelopment?” he asked.

He also took direct swipes at notable opposition figures, including Peter Obi, for “flying private jets throughout the 2023 campaign season despite vowing to fly only commercial airlines if elected president.”

He attacked Nasir El-Rufai, for allegedly underperforming in Abuja during his tenure compared to “the mind-blowing transformation” under current FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The APC condemned Rauf Aregbesola, whose time as Minister of Interior was labeled “lacklustre” and Hadi Sirika, the former Aviation Minister, for his role in the controversial Nigerian Air project, which Morka described as a “phantom airline.”

In contrast, Morka praised the Tinubu administration’s ministers such as Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, and Festus Keyamo (SAN), Minister of Aviation, whom he credited with introducing “super efficiency” and “drastic improvements” in their respective sectors.

“None of the proponents of the coalition has the vision, the courage, competence, credibility, track record, zeal and patriotism to serve Nigeria better than President Bola Tinubu is already doing,” Morka asserted.

He added that while the opposition “wallows in self-inflicted confusion,” the APC and the Tinubu-led government will remain focused on building “a virile and vibrant country for this and future generations.”
