APC Conducts LG Primaries In Benue, Sets Up Appeal Panel

The All Progressives Congress chapter in Benue has effectively elected candidates for chairmanship and council seats in the local government elections set for October 5, 2024.
The state spokesperson for the APC Caretaker Committee and Caretaker Organising Secretary, James Ornguga, told reporters in Makurdi on Friday that the primaries went well.
Ornguga stated that for the upcoming elections, the party successfully elected 276 candidates for council seats and 23 candidates for chairmanships.
“All local governments in the state have concluded their primaries and submitted the results to the caretaker committee.”
He also commended party members for their calm conduct during the primary election and aspirants for their peaceful coordination during the screening exercise on September 1 and 2, 2024.
“APC is pleased that no violence was reported during the process, and those with concerns regarding the screening exercise approached the Barr. Moses Atagher-led Screening Appeal Committee, which addressed all cases.”
Ornguga stated that the Primary Election Appeal Committee has begun reviewing petitions coming from the primaries.
He urged party members to work together and understand each other in order for the electoral process to be successful overall.
Ornguga went on to identify the winners from other local governments, stating that the process was transparent and successful.
According to the findings, Mr Timothy Adi won the chairmanship ticket in Gwer East, while Mr Guda Terkura won in Vandiekya LGA. Other winners are Mr. Joseph Keffi in Makurdi, Mr. Jonathan Modi in Ukum, and Mr. Kumasuun Tyowase in Ushongo.
