You’re no threat, PDP’ll be stronger – Damagum reacts to Atiku’s resignation

The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Umar Damagum has reacted to the resignation of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the party.

Two days ago, Atiku resigned from PDP, citing the party’s deviation from its founding principles.

Prior to his resignation, Atiku was part of those who assembled to form the opposition coalition that adopted the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

With his resignation from PDP, there are indications that Atiku would contest for the presidency under ADC.

Reacting to the development, Damagum said the PDP would be stronger without Atiku.

The PDP acting national chairman spoke while addressing journalists in Bauchi on Friday.

He disclosed that this is not the first time that Atiku would dump the PDP for other political parties.

Damagum said the current resignation was in line with his past actions, stressing that PDP is accustomed to such.

He also insisted that Atiku’s resignation and actions pose no significant threat.
