‘You Failed Deltans By Joining APC’ — Netizens Bash Gov Oborevwori

Five days after Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), some Nigerians on X have taken to the microblogging platform to bash the governor.
On April 23, Oborevwori, alongside the former governor of the state, Ifeanyi Okowa, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.
The move attracted both applause and criticism. However, on Monday, some Nigerians reacted to a video of the governor saying the residents are happy with his move.
The governor, in the 25-minute video, said, “The people of Delta State are happy because they are seeing development and improvement, and we will continue to do more for our people.
“Like we have said, ‘the more agenda’ which I have promised Deltans will surely be delivered in Jesus’ name. So, continue to support this administration to suceed as we move this state forward.”
Reacting, however, an X user @GenzPapi said, “We’re not happy!! Give us companies and light.. apart from roads, what have you done again?”
Another user, @KingRudyjr, said, “You have brought Delta State to darkness, as APC is a darkness party @RtHonSheriff.”
@AmMrPlenty said, “Two years in, and you’re still chanting ‘the MORE agenda will be delivered in Jesus’ name”?
For God’s sake, Delta is too blessed to be cursed with useless leaders.
“Billions wasted, lives wasted. Who did we offend to deserve this kind of heartless and wicked leader?”
Another user, @ab_ochuko added, “Since you decamped to APC, go and ask the people again, go to the streets. THEY ARE NOT HAPPY another post by @Julius78587 noted, “You failed the people of Delta the moment you decide to bow to PBAT…”
Oborevwori and Okowa had revealed that their move to the APC was in the interest of the state and the “common good of the people.”
On Monday, Okonwa said, “As I did tell people that day (when I defected), it was not about me; it was not about the governor, but about the fact that there is a need for us to connect to Abuja.
“That goodwill that is in Abuja, that resource that is in Abuja, of which Delta State is a large contributor — there was a need to connect to it.”
The former governor’s defection came amid a corruption probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged diversion of 13 per cent derivation allocations from the federation account between 2015 and 2023 as governor.
Okowa was also being investigated for allegedly diverting N40bn shares bought from major banks for the State’s LNG offshore project to personal use.
