You Can’t Unseat Tinubu In 2027, Presidency Tells Coalition

The Presidency on Saturday sent a strong statement to leaders of the newly formed political coalition, saying they can’t unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Rather, the President advised them to wait till 2031, after Tinubu must have served his second tenure.

Presidential spokesman, Sunday Dare, who gave the admonition, said none of the leaders of the coalition can claim to posses Tinubu’s political and electoral credentials.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other top politicians had on Wednesday, unveiled a caoltion on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Others leaders of the group are a former Senate President, David Mark, who chairs the ADC; a former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, who is the National Secretary; the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Mr Peter Obi; former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai among others.

Dare, who spoke in Abuja on the activities of the coalition, said the leaders of the labour in vain, stressing that Tinubu’s achievements in office in the last two years have put paid to their ambitions.

The spokesman described the coalition as a purely opportunistic gathering of disgruntled politicians.

According to him, the presidential seat remains in the South till 2031, stressing that those in the ADC lied by telling Nigerians they were out to redress the injustice in the system.

“There is no injustice to redress, only avarice and ambition to satisfy the cravings of a few for the control of the national treasury,” he said.

Dare declared that the leaders of the ADC cannot re-enact the feat by the APC, which dislodged a ruling party in the 2015 general election.

“In 2013, the merger that birthed the APC was driven by selflessness, national interest, and strategic discipline. The leaders at the time were willing to set aside personal ambitions for the greater good.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite commanding the loyalty of several sitting governors, chose to wait. He bided his time, played the long game, and focused on building a viable political platform.

“He had never lost an election, and he didn’t have to force his way in. Today, no one in this coalition commands that kind of loyalty or trust.

“Not one of them could genuinely unite a ward, let alone a country. No one comes close to parading the democratic credentials of President Bola Tinubu,” Dare said.
