Yobe govt clarifies relocation of Nigerian Army Special Forces School to Nasarawa
The Yobe State Government has responded to concerns raised in some quarters regarding the fate of the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area.
Through its Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (retd), the government affirmed that the school will not be relocated and that it remains in Buni Yadi.
“The Nigerian Special Forces School Buni Yadi has been conducting acclimatisation and pre-induction training for all forces deployed to the Northeast Theatre of Operations, while the Special Forces training was conducted elsewhere.
“However, the establishment of the Special Forces Command in Doma necessitates the co-location of the Special Forces School with the Command Headquarters, hence, the foundation-laying ceremony conducted in Doma by the Chief of Army Staff,” Abdulsalam said.
According to the Special Adviser, the school in Buni Yadi is now designated as the Nigerian Army Acclimatisation Centre and will continue preparing forces for induction into the Theatre of Operations.
The state government expressed appreciation for the concern shown by well-meaning citizens and acknowledged the ongoing support troops receive from the people of Yobe State.
The establishment of the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Doma, Nasarawa State, following the commissioning of the Special Forces Command Headquarters by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General O.O. Oluyede, on August 15, 2025, had prompted concerns over the future of the Buni Yadi facility.
