Woman Rescued As Three Suspected Kidnapers Nabbed In Enugu

Three kidnap suspects have been nabbed by the neighbourhood watch operatives of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The operation, THE WHISTLER learnt, was led by the Chairman of the LGA, Hon Chijioke Ezugwu. The incident happened between 2am and 3:30am on Monday at Awuzi village, Ogba Nkpologu community of the LGA.
A release by the Special Assistant on Communication and Strategy to the Local Government Chairman, Mr Solomon Gwiyi, stated that one Mrs Grace Dieke, who owns a drinking joint in the area, was rescued during the operation.
According to the release, “The kidnap suspects had made away with their victim into the bush, but a tactical team of the neighbourhood watch personnel trailed them to their hideout at Ugwu-Ugbene and got three out of the four suspects arrested, while rescuing the victim in the process.”
Gwiyi stated that the suspected kidnap kingpin, one Ebuka Ngana, aka “Mostcabel” from Amaezike Nkpologu, escaped while his three accomplices, identified as Eze Tochukwu from Umukpaka village of Ugebene Ajima, Enejere Tochukwu from Egburu Ugbene village of Ugebene Ajima and Jude Ezugwu from Amaezike Nkpologu, all from Uzo Uwani LGA, were arrested.
Excerpts from the statement read, “The suspects were arrested at Ugwu-Ugbene in Uzo Uwani LGA in the wee hours of Monday, and have been handed over to the police at Ukpabi Police Division for further investigations.
“This is a very significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and banditry in Uzo-Uwani LGA.”
