Wike Inaugurates Kabusa-Ketti Road, Pledges Street Lights
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving security and infrastructure in rural communities through the installation of streetlights on all ongoing rural road projects.
Wike made this known on Wednesday during the inauguration of the 10.5-kilometer Kabusa-Ketti road that will connect several underserved communities in the FCT.
“For the first time, you can see we are providing roads and, at the same time, providing streetlights. Go to Kuje township road at night and see the streetlights. This, in a way, will improve security in the affected communities,” he said.
According to Wike, the FCTA is dedicated to alleviating residents’ suffering and helping farmers access their farms.
The minister also announced plans to construct a senior secondary school in Ketti community.
“I have seen what you have written there in the banner. Let me assure you, without you even saying it, that Ketti will get a senior secondary school,” Wike said.
Mr. Christopher Maikalangu, Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), expressed gratitude for the Kabusa-Ketti road project, describing it as transformative.
“The poor state of the road has made it a soft target for kidnappers, armed robbers, and bandits, causing residents to abandon their homes. This road will be a game changer, enhancing socio-economic activities and development,” Maikalangu stated.
Maikalangu praised Wike’s efforts on other projects, such as the construction of roads in Saburi, Karimo to Dei-Dei, and Life Camp in Zone C of AMAC. He appealed for similar interventions in Nyanya, Karu, Orozo, and Karshi communities in Zone A.
Mr. Richard Dauda, Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), disclosed that the Kabusa-Ketti road project was awarded to Tech Oil Global Concept and is expected to be completed in six months.
He said the road will connect five communities in the area to ease transportation and improve security.
