The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in Minna on Monday.

According to Abiodun, the arrest was made following investigations conducted between December 24, 2024, and January 4, 2025.

He said preliminary findings revealed that Dzuma struck her husband on the head with a pestle during a domestic dispute, which resulted in his death.

In a separate case, the police said it apprehended one Aminu Amale, 45, for allegedly attempting to extort N9.5m from a farmer in Mariga Local Government Area.

He also noted that three suspected armed robbers were also arrested in Minna. The suspects, identified as Jibrin Ndako, 19, Haruna Abubakar, 20, and Aliyu Abdullahi, 18, were allegedly planning to burgle a provision store.

Abiodun stated that the suspects were found in possession of three cutlasses and an industrial iron cutter, which they intended to use in the operation.

He further said that a suspect, Abubakar Sadiq, was arrested for allegedly killing a motorcyclist, Abdulrahman Isah, 20, and stole his motorcycle. He said that two person, Ibrahim Garba and Bala Usman, were detained for allegedly purchasing the stolen motorcycle.

The police spokesperson stated that all the suspects would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Minna for further investigation and prosecution.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to reducing crime and ensuring public safety in the state.

“The Niger State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to curtail criminal activities and ensure the safety of lives and property,” Abiodun added.
