We’re Not Recruiting, Says FCT Teachers’ Board

The Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT UBEB) has warned Nigerians to beware of messages circulating on social media claiming that the board was recruiting.
The message, which has been circulating on the WhatsApp platform, stated that the board was looking for qualified teachers and asked interested candidates to visit its office to submit their curriculum vitae (CV).
“This is to inform the house that UBEB is asking for qualified teachers to submit their applications for employment. Just walk to their office with your application. Please act fast about it.
“The Universal Basic Education Board FCT Abuja office is located in two different areas:
-Moshood Abiola Road Office*: You can find them on Moshood Abiola Road, Garki Area 2 Section 1, near the Area 2 Shopping Centre.
- Garki Area 11 Office: Alternatively, they also have an office at Area 11, P.M.B. 24, Garki, Abuja, Nigeria.
“For more information or to contact them directly, you can reach out through their phone numbers: +234.09.234.2608, +234.09.234.2609, or +234.09.3141266, or email them at info@fctedusec.gov.ng,” the message said.
When THE WHISTLER visited the office, a cluster of job seekers was spotted at the FCT UBEB office in Area 2 trying to submit their CVs but were turned back.
Some of the job seekers who spoke with THE WHISTLER stated that they saw the information on WhatsApp groups they belong to.
“It has been circulating since last year and I just came with my CV and I was told that it was a scam,” one of the job seekers said.
Responding to THE WHISTLER’s inquiry on the circulated message, an official at the public relations department said that they were not recruiting, adding that the department is putting up a statement to debunk it.
