We’ll never give up – Plateau vigilante vows to keep fighting bandits

Despite the gruesome killing of 70 vigilante members by bandits in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday, leaders of the organisation have vowed to fight on until they rid the state of terrorists.

DAILY POST had reported how the deadly attack occurred when the bandits laid an ambush for the vigilante members while in Kukawa and Bunyun villages in Wase and Kanam LGAs, killing those deceased.

The vigilante members were said to have mobilised their members in the two councils to hunt down bandits hiding in the bush when they were ambushed and attacked.

Abdullahi Hussaini, the leader of the group in Wase Local Government Area, where most of the deceased came from, made the vow while speaking with journalists on Tuesday. He said the attack which led to the killing of their members would not deter the vigilantes from the fight against bandits and kidnappers, but would rather spur them into intensifying the battle.

Hussaini, who said he was one of those who participated in the operation, stated that despite the heavy casualty, the group would not retreat.

“We will never surrender to the bandits and kidnappers. It’s either they leave Wase or repent, or we continue to fight them to the last breath,” he vowed.

He added that although death is inevitable as everyone will die one day, the gruesome incident would not stop the group from going ahead to hound the bandits until they are chased out of the state.

He also called on the people to support the group’s efforts with prayers and to stand firm against banditry, which has been threatening the security and unity of the state.
