We’ll flush out bandits in Katsina – COAS vows
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, on Sunday, visited Katsina State following recent killings in Malumfashi Local Government Area and vowed to crush bandits terrorising communities in the state.
Oluyede, on an operational visit, met with the acting governor, Faruk Lawal, at the Government House where he assured that the Nigerian Army was determined to end banditry and other forms of insecurity in Katsina and the wider North-West.
He described the attack on Mantau community in Malumfashi as “unfortunate and sad,” stressing that troops would intensify efforts to identify and neutralise bandit leaders behind the violence.
“The enemies of Katsina are within, and we will fish them out and eliminate them,” he said.
The army chief also called for stronger intelligence sharing between residents, the state government and security agencies to fast-track the fight against banditry.
In his response, the acting governor urged the military to deploy more troops and equipment to flashpoint areas. He also appealed to residents to support security agencies with credible information.
