Weak leaders running to APC – Former PDP spokesman slams defectors

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Diran Odeyemi, has described recent defections from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as acts of weakness.

According to him, those leaving lack the courage to stay and resolve internal issues.

Speaking in an interview with TVC News, Odeyemi said every political party in the world faces challenges, but true leaders are known by their ability to manage crises, not by abandoning ship.

“Leadership is about confronting challenges, not running away from them. Those rushing to the APC in search of peace are only deceiving themselves because no political party is free from internal disagreements.”

Odeyemi stressed that despite the defections, the PDP remains strong and united.

He recalled that former Vice President and presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had left and returned to the PDP several times, yet the party survived.

“This is not the first time Atiku would leave. He has left and come back again. So the party remains, the party is supreme,” Odeyemi explained.

“Our motto is that the party belongs to the people. It is the people that own the party, not any individual. The exit of one person cannot make the PDP crumble.”
