We Will Learn From Our 4-0 Defeat To PSG — Real Madrid Coach

Reactions have continued to trail PSG’s comprehensive 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the inaugural Club World Cup.

The European Champions produced a stunning performance to brush aside the Spanish giants with ruthless attacking performance, to further establish their dominance.

Fabian Ruiz scored a brace before Ousmane Dembele, and Goncalo Ramos completed the victory.

Real Madrid, who had never lost a Club World Cup match before, conceded three goals in the opening 25 minutes of a match for the first time since 9 November 2003 against Sevilla in La Liga.

PSG have won their last five knockout round matches in all competitions by a combined score of 18-0.

PSG coach, Luis Enrique praised his players for their impressive showing against Real Madrid while backing Dembele to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.

He said: “I feel great. It’s difficult to play those kinds of matches against Real Madrid. I think we started the game very good and we’re happy with the performance.

“Especially in these conditions – it’s too much heat, for me. You need to play in different conditions to watch a better show but I think both teams did it great.

“We are in a special season, a special moment and I think we deserved to win.

“We are one club away from making history, becoming the only French team to ever win every title. We’re the team that scores the most, and one of the teams that concede the least. We are exceptional.

“It’s the first match in this Club World Cup we can use Ousmane as a normal player because he was injured with the national team and we tried to take care of him. I think he’s the best player this season by a long way.

“He deserves to win everything because he gave everything to the team and the team is going to achieve trophies, which is the most important thing for a club.”

The former Barcelona manager is confident that the team will improve next season despite winning an historic treble while targeting a win against Chelsea on Sunday.

He said: “I have zero doubts that we will improve next year. The fact that we have a player who moves wherever he wants means that I don’t control some situations. Next year, I will control absolutely everything. No exceptions.

“We are going to try to win it. One more step against a good team like Chelsea. They performed the whole competition and now it’s time for us to prepare for that, try to recover.

“Almost there; we want to make history for our club and then it’s our holidays.”

Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso, was disappointed with the team’s performance while urging the players to learn from the defeat.

He said: “For sure we knew the task was really tough being 2-0 down against Paris after 10 minutes. At the moment the feeling is not the best but we have to try to learn from the defeat.

“They are a team that have been building for two years and we are just starting. We have to take time but we have to learn. At the moment we need a proper break. This is not the beginning of this year; this is just the end of last season.

“After just three weeks here, I think we can take positives from this period. Not from today but we take lessons from today.

“I think we have not been the last ones to face such a good team. I think, since February, they are in a top moment and today we have faced one of the best teams in the world.

“Let’s see what happens in the final but they have shown a very good level. We want to be there but for sure it would take time.”

Chelsea fans have taken to social media to express their hopes of beating PSG in the final on Sunday.

Carefree Lewis has urged his fellow Chelsea fans to be optimistic ahead of the clash.

He wrote on X: “Chelsea fans should not be scared of being the underdogs. We’re built differently. Bring On PSG.”

Daniel Childs wrote on X: “Chelsea should desire to be the best team in the world, you have to beat brilliant teams. Sunday is an opportunity to go against that. You want to be in the room rather than watching from home.”

Tom Overend wrote: Chelsea are not favourites on Sunday. There is not a single person that thinks that we can beat PSG playing like this. All I know is that we’ve produced some of our best performances when things looked darkest and no one gave us a chance.”

Debbie Chelsea is confident that the Blues will defeat PSG in the final on Sunday.

She wrote on X: “I’m disappointed in a lot of Chelsea fans, Real Madrid is not Chelsea and PSG will not beat us the way they are beating Real Madrid. Chelsea will win the trophy, take note.”

Dean CFC wrote: “A huge challenge awaits on Sunday, but this is the strongest and most balanced Chelsea team we’ve seen under the new ownership. There’s nothing to fear.

“We are peaking at exactly the right moment, and there’s every reason to believe we can bring that trophy home.”

PSG have won four trophies already this season including the Champions League, where they produced one of the most dominant performances in the competition’s history with a 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the final.

Enrique’s side also added the Ligue 1, French Super Cup, Coupe de France to the list.

Chelsea are the champions of the Europa Conference League and they finished fourth in the Premier League.

The final between Chelsea, and PSG will be played at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday 8pm Nigerian time.
