We Recovered Stun Gun From Pastor Adefarasin, Granted Him Bail — Police
The Lagos State Police Command has announced Tuesday night that the force indeed recovered a weapon from the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock and convener of The Experience worship concert, Pastor Paul Adefarasin.
The pastor had reported to the Command Headquarters in Ikeja on Tuesday afternoon for questioning.
It followed the circulation of a viral video allegedly showing him holding a gun in a car a week earlier.
The video showed Adefarasin confronting a car spotter who was filming his Range Rover, while appearing to hold what resembled a pistol.
The footage sparked widespread criticism, with many viewers expressing concern over what they believed was a firearm.
In response, Adefarasin denied possessing or pointing a gun at anyone. In a public statement, he said, “I want to assure you of this — that that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”
He reiterated this stance during a sermon on June 8, saying the incident had caused him emotional distress.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday night however, the Lagos Police Command confirmed that the object recovered from the pastor was a stun gun — a prohibited anti-riot device.
“Pastor Paul Adefarasin, who turned himself in today at the Lagos State Police Command over a viral video where he was seen holding a gun-like object against another road user, was interrogated and he volunteered a cautionary statement to the police investigators,” the Command stated.
“What was recovered from him, the gun-like object seen in the viral video, is not a lethal weapon or firearm but a stun gun which is a prohibited anti-riot equipment.”
The police added that although Adefarasin has been granted bail, investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
