The Zamfara State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it has recorded a surge in its membership base, claiming that more than 75,000 new members have been registered across the state.

The party made this known during its “Hand Shake Day” event held at Maryam Hall in Gusau, the state capital, on Monday.

Speaking at the event, the ADC chairman in Zamfara, Alhaji Kabiru Garba, attributed the increase in membership to what he described as the party’s strong vision and widespread dissatisfaction with the current state of governance.

“We are prepare over 2027 election, we see a brighter future, many people are now registering with our party day in day out, presently as at today, we have registered no fewer than 75,000 new members into Zamfara ADC and hopefully to register 100,000 new members in the state,” he mentioned.

Garba also used the opportunity to voice concerns over the security challenges plaguing Zamfara, criticizing Governor Dauda Lawal for what he sees as a failure to safeguard lives and property.

“The insecurity bedeviling the state is something to worry about; it’s high time for Governor Dauda Lawal to provide lasting solutions to the insecurity in the state, otherwise he should step down,” he mentioned.

He further urged both the state governor and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take urgent action.

“According to Zamfara ADC chairman, the Governor of Zamfara state and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should wake up from the slumber, provide security, and protect the lives and properties of citizens.”

While commenting on the persistent attacks across communities, Garba said ADC believes dialogue with bandits could help restore peace.

“ADC is worried about Zamfara insecurity, we condemned the incessant attacks and urge the Governor to negotiate with bandits and allow peace to reign,” he advised.

Garba expressed optimism about the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We have seen a brighter future in Zamfara. God willing, our party would capture Zamfara and Nigeria in 2027, because of the good and promising manifestos of ADC to the citizens of Nigeria.”
