WAFCON 2024: Super Falcons secure top spot in Group B after draw with Algeria

Nigeria’s Super Falcons were held to a 0-0 draw by the Fennecs of Algeria in their final group game at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Justine Madugu’s side finished top of Group B with seven points from three matches.

The nine-time champions will face the Copper Queens of Zambia in the quarter-finals on Friday.

Nigeria dominated possession, but the Algerians stood firm at the back.

Ifeoma Onumonu and Jennifer Echegini also came close to opening the scoring for Nigeria in the first half.

The Super Falcons struggled to create scoring chances in the second half.

Algeria finished second in the group with five points from three matches.

Tunisia and Botswana battled to a 1-1 draw in the other group game.
