Village head arrested over alleged role as bandits’ informant
Security operatives have arrested the Village Head of Walawa in Kankiya Local Government Area of Katsina State for allegedly working as an informant to armed bandits.
The arrest was disclosed in a post by security analyst, Zagazola Makama on X, on Wednesday morning.
According to the post which was accompanied by a video interview, the suspect, identified as Salisu Abdullahi, allegedly confessed to aiding bandits in the kidnapping of 17 people and stealing cows in Walawa.
He also named two of his alleged partners, Alkali Tanimu and Manu both from Jobawa community near Walawa.
Zagazola reported that the suspect further admitted to being involved in another attack in Mai Danko, where 16 people and cows were taken.
He said the first kidnapping yielded ₦12 million in ransom, out of which he was given ₦50,000.
Security sources said he is currently in custody and being investigated to uncover other possible collaborators.
