Vietnamese Ambassador Meets Otti To Strengthen Economic Partnership
The Socialist Republic of Vietnam has expressed strong interest in strengthening economic ties with Abia State, particularly in agriculture, trade, and industrial development, as part of efforts to enhance bilateral relations.
The Vietnamese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Bui Quoc Hung, disclosed this on Tuesday during a visit to Governor Alex Otti at his country home in Nvosi, where he commended the governor’s economic policies and vision for the state.
Mr. Hung, who led a delegation to Abia, noted the state’s vast economic potential, including opportunities in agriculture, textiles, crude oil, and gas and emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to fostering partnerships that would boost trade and investment, particularly in reviving struggling industries in Abia.
In response, Governor Otti expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that his administration was focused on revitalizing Abia’s economy through strategic partnerships. He directed the Commissioner for Industry to work closely with the Vietnamese team and ensure they explore key industrial sites across the state.
“We are excited about this engagement and open to partnerships that will drive industrial growth, trade, and commerce. Abia has a history of industrial success, and we are determined to bring back those thriving sectors,” Otti said.
As part of the visit, the Vietnamese delegation is expected to tour industrial and commercial hubs in Umuahia and Aba, as well as engage with business leaders from the Aba and Umuahia Chambers of Commerce.
The team also visited the National War Museum, Umuahia, accompanied by the Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Digital Economy, Mr. Mathew Ekwuribe, who took them around the Museum, Enlightening them about the history of the Biafran War and Nigeria at large further strengthening cultural and diplomatic ties between Abia State and Vietnam.
