A disturbing incident has rocked the Eagle Island community in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as a 14-year-old female maid was brutally tortured by a school principal and teachers over allegations of theft.
The incident occurred when the maid’s employer reported her to her school, claiming that she had stolen N30,000.
According to eyewitnesses, the principal and teachers at the school took the law into their own hands, using a pressing iron to burn the young girl.
The neighbours and passersby who witnessed the incident were outraged and attempted to mob the employer and the school authorities.
However, the situation was diffused when a timely intervention prevented further chaos.
Videos that have now gone viral show that the 14-year-old maid was severely burned and is currently receiving treatment.
The extent of her injuries is still unknown, but eyewitnesses described the burns as severe. The victim and her employer have been taken into custody by the police at the Azikiwe Police Station in Port Harcourt.
The police have not confirmed the incident yet, but sources said the Azikiwe police station are investigating the incident.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the community, with many calling for swift action against the school principal and teachers involved. The community is demanding justice for the young victim and accountability from the school authorities.
