Verstappen Targets Fifth Consecutive Formula 1 Title

Max Verstappen has set his sights on winning his fifth consecutive Formula 1 title with Red Bull ahead of the new season.

He brought his best race to the table last season when he fought off a stiff challenge from McLaren’s Lando Norris to win the drivers’ championship.

The 27-year-old has called for more stability following a series of controversies last season, which included the saga surrounding Christian Horner’s misconduct investigation.

He said, “Last year has been challenging at times. Of course, we had a lot of good moments, of course, also some tough moments, and I hope that we can be, let’s say, a little bit more stable and a little bit more all-round throughout the season.”

Red Bull has added Liam Lawson to their squad following the poor performance of Sergio Perez last season, and Verstappen is looking forward to racing alongside Lawson.

He said, “What I’m looking forward to the most is just to see how competitive we are. Of course, as you said, new teammate in Liam [Lawson]. I’m excited to be working with him as well, and I think the whole team is excited to, yeah, look ahead to this season.”

Michael Schumacher was the last driver to win five straight world titles, doing so between 2000 and 2004, but Verstappen is relaxed ahead of the new season.

He said, “Honestly, my mindset hasn’t really changed. Of course, winning four titles has been a dream, more than a dream, I would say. I’m relaxed.

“I’m just looking forward, of course, to see how competitive we can be. And from there onwards also, once you realise a bit how competitive you are, you set a bit of a target, but that’s too early to say at the moment.”

The 2025 calendar marks the 75th anniversary of the FIA Formula One World Championship.

The season begins in Australia (March 14-16), before heading to China (March 21-23)—which also hosts the first F1 Sprint of 2025.
