Uzodinma appoints Deputy Governor chairman Imo boundary committee
Governor, Hope Uzodinma has appointed the State Deputy Governor, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru the Chairman of the Boundary Committee in Imo State and charged them with the mandate of restoring peace to communities where boundary issues are threatening peaceful coexistence among natives.
Inaugurating the committee, Uzodinma urged them to be diligent in settling all boundary disputes in the state to restore elusive peace whereever it exists within the localities.
He said the Boundary Committee has a place in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended with the responsibility of settling boundary disputes.
“You are expected to bring prosperity in all environments, and help fulfill the aspirations of the government. I need not remind you the gains that could be derived from having a peaceful environment in the state devoid of boundary altercations in the communities.”the Governor said.
In her acceptance speech, the Deputy Governor, on behalf of the committee, thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve in that capacity and promised not to disappoint the Governor and the people of the State.
She assured that through the committee will add value and repute to the state as regards to boundary disputes revolution.
The event which took place at Government House Owerri has 15 member committee with the Deputy Governor as the chairperson.
