At least five soldiers have been reportedly shot following an incident at the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area, which is part of the Fort Stewart Army base in Georgia.

According to BBC, the incident occurred earlier on Wednesday when a gunman stormed the facility and opened fire.

Officials at the base confirmed the incident, stating that the injured soldiers were treated by emergency personnel on-site.

They were subsequently moved to hospital for further treatment.

The officials added that the gunman has been apprehended and there is “no active threat to the community”.

The Georgia Governor, Brian Kemp also confirmed the development in a post on X, saying he is in touch with the law enforcement and praying for victims.
