The University of Abuja (UniAbuja) has appointed Mrs Roseline Adakayi as its acting registrar, pending the selection of a substantive registrar.
The Acting Director of Information and University Relations, Dr. Habib Yakoob, announced this on Monday.
The appointment, approved by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr Olanrewaju Tejuoso, is for six months, effective May 12, 2025.
Adakayi succeeds Mrs. Islamiya Foyeke Abdulraheem, whose six-month tenure as acting registrar concluded on May 12, 2025.
The acting vice-chancellor, Prof. Patricia Manko Lar, expressed confidence in Adakayi’s experience and leadership, stating that she would serve the university well in her new role.
“I congratulate Mrs Adakayi on her appointment as acting registrar and secretary to the council. She will be responsible to the vice-chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the university.
“ I am hopeful that with her wealth of experience as an administrator, she will serve the university well,” she said.
With over two decades of experience in the university’s administration, Adakayi has held various positions, including deputy registrar.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of Jos and postgraduate diplomas in photogrammetry and land surveying.
Lar also thanked Abdulraheem for her service and dedication during her tenure as acting registrar.
