UBA Board Approves 2025 Half-Year Accounts, Hints at Interim Dividend

Pan-African financial institution, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has announced that its audited financial results for the first half of 2025 have been approved by its board of directors.

The lender also signalled plans to reward shareholders with an interim dividend, pending the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The board confirmed that the audited financial statements have already been transmitted to the apex bank, as required, before being made public on the Nigerian Exchange. Analysts say UBA remains exempt from CBN’s restriction on interim dividend payments, which applies only to banks under regulatory forbearance or those in breach of single obligor limits.

“Please be informed that the Board of United Bank for Africa Plc, at its meeting, which was held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, considered and approved the 2025 Half-Year Audited Accounts and Financial Statements.

“The Board approved an interim dividend for the period, subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” the group said in a regulatory update.

UBA also noted that details of the dividend payment will be communicated once the CBN grants clearance for the results. Meanwhile, insiders and related parties are restricted from trading in UBA’s shares until at least 24 hours after the financials are released to the market.
