Two Kidnappers Escape Mob Action In Enugu

Two kidnappers, Monday evening, escaped mob action at Iheakpu Ulo, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State after a vehicle they were carrying their abductees to their hideout had an accident.
The incident which occurred around 4pm, close to Obollo International Hotel, demobilised their Sienna bus. The two kidnappers reportedly hurried out of the vehicle while the three persons they held captive were rescued by passersby.
Martins Nwanna, an eye witness, told THE WHISTLER that, “It happened near our house. When the bus fell while dodging some potholes, the manner the two men came out attracted us.
“On getting to the scene, people saw that there were three incapacitated young persons tied together in the vehicle.
“Sensing that they would be caught, one of the kidnappers took off. People began to pursue him, though he had gone far when we realised that they were kidnappers.
“The second one bravely ran towards a parked motorcycle, used whichever means to start it, and zoomed off. He rode towards Obollo-Afor.
“The first one used his gun to scare people and made into the bush. None of them was caught, though members of the neighbourhood watch of the community were later alerted to comb the bush.”
It was gathered that their captives later revealed that they were kidnapped at a community in Nsukka Local Government Area, and were being whisked toward Obollo-Oturkpo borders when the accident happened.
A lady, who identified herself as Ann, said her motorcycle was about a month ago snatched from her by a group suspected to be the same people.
According to her, “They halted me while I was riding my bike, pushed me aside, and lifted my ladies’ machine into their vehicle and drove off.”
The Police are yet to react to the incident.
