Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have apprehended two suspects linked to the alleged killing of a police officer assigned to an expatriate in Benin City.

DAILY POST reports that the tragic incident happened along First East Circular Road when suspected armed robbers targeted the officer, identified as Sergeant Aminu Yusuf, who was providing security escort following a bank withdrawal.

According to reports, the assailants, believed to be four in number, opened fire shortly after the vehicle left the banking premises.

The attackers fatally wounded Sergeant Yusuf and reportedly fled the scene with his AK-47 rifle.

Yusuf was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, CSP Moses Yamu, said two suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the attack.

He added that a full-scale manhunt has been launched to track down the remaining perpetrators.
