Trump Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize
U.S. President Donald Trump has been formally nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize following his successful intervention in halting the recent hostilities between Israel and Iran, a conflict he called the “12-Day War.”
The nomination was submitted on Tuesday, June 24, by U.S. Representative Buddy Carter (R-Ga.), who hailed Trump’s role as “extraordinary and historic” in de-escalating a rapidly intensifying regional war.
In his letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Carter credited Trump with delivering what many believed was impossible, a swift and decisive ceasefire between two bitter rivals.
“President Trump’s influence was instrumental in forging a swift agreement that many believed to be impossible,” Carter wrote.
Carter also pointed to Trump’s actions beyond the ceasefire, citing his tough stance against Iran’s nuclear program as critical to global security.
“President Trump took bold, decisive actions to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions and ensure that the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism remains incapable of acquiring a nuclear weapon,” Carter stated.
Calling Trump’s crisis management “a breakthrough in a historically unstable region,” the Georgia Congressman argued that the President’s conduct aligns with the spirit of the Nobel Peace Prize.
“His leadership through the crisis exemplifies the very ideals that the Nobel Peace Prize seeks to recognize: the pursuit of peace, the prevention of war, and the advancement of international harmony,” Carter wrote.
“For these reasons, I respectfully submit this nomination for Donald J. Trump, 47th President of the United States, to be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize.”
The conflict erupted just over a week ago when Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iranian targets, citing credible intelligence on imminent nuclear threats. In response, Tehran fired a volley of missiles, triggering a rapid military escalation.
By the weekend, the United States entered the fray, conducting airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities. The move raised alarm over the potential for a broader regional war.
On June 23, Iran retaliated by launching rockets toward a U.S. base in Qatar, though no casualties were reported. Notably, Iran gave prior notice to both American and Qatari officials before the strike.
Later that evening, President Trump announced a U.S.-brokered ceasefire to take effect overnight, declaring that the war was “ending.”
The Nobel Committee has yet to comment publicly on Carter’s nomination.
