Troops, vigilantes kill bandits, seize arms in Plateau
Troops of Sector 2 under Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), working with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), have killed two bandits and recovered weapons during a special operation in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
This was contained in a post shared on Tuesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X.
According to the post, the operation was based on reliable intelligence that some bandit leaders were sharing weapons stolen from local vigilantes during a recent attack in Odare Forest on July 6.
The troops reportedly set up an ambush along the routes between Dutsen Zaki and Odare Forests.
“At about 1:30 p.m. on July 14, the troops came in contact with the bandits. Two of them were killed while the others ran away, possibly with bullet wounds,” Makama wrote.
Makama further added that during the search of the area, the soldiers recovered one AK-47 rifle, six AK-47 magazines, 27 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a Boxer motorcycle.
“The recovered items are now in military custody and that follow-up operations are ongoing to find the other fleeing bandits,” he added.
