Troops Rescue Kidnapped Family, Kill Bandits In Kogi
Troops of 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have killed notorious bandit commander, Kachalla Bala, alongside five of his fighters, in a clearance operation in Kogi State.
The operation, which commenced on 1 September 2025, according to a statement by Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the 126 Battalion, supported by Other Hybrid Forces (OHF), first made contact with bandits in the Tunga general area during an advance operation, killing two in a firefight.
Abdullahi said the operation led to the killing of several bandits, destruction of their hideouts, rescue of kidnapped victims, recovery of arms, and restoration of peace in troubled communities
The Brigade Commander and Force Commander, Operation Accord III, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, led further exploitation of the axis, which resulted in the destruction of several bandits’ settlements and increased dominance through patrols and ambushes.
On 2 September, acting on credible intelligence, troops with close air support from the 405 Helicopter Combat Training Group launched an air mission at Ankomi, engaging fleeing bandits and neutralising scores.
Similarly, clearance operations conducted on 3 September in Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba communities led to the rescue of one Mr. Pabo Suleiman and his two children, who have since been reunited with their family.
Troops also recovered five locally made dane guns during the raid.
In another operation on 5 September, a joint ambush by troops along a suspected bandits’ supply route led to the killing of a logistics courier.
Recovered items included a motorcycle, two mobile phones, and an AK-47 magazine loaded with 20 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to rid Kogi and adjoining states of banditry and criminal activities, stressing that Operation EGWUA A TITE II remains on course to restore lasting peace in the region.
“The ongoing Operation EGWUA A TITE II continues to yield positive results, and troops will remain resolute in restoring peace and security in the region,” Abdullahi stated.
