Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have repelled a midnight attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists targeting a military position at Limankara, along the Gwoza road in Borno State.

The development was disclosed on Saturday by security analyst Zagazola Makama via X.

According to the report, the incident occurred around 12:10 am on Friday, July 25, when the insurgents attempted to infiltrate the Alpha Company location of the 28 Task Force Brigade.

Troops swiftly engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat after suffering casualties.

During the encounter, one soldier was killed while another sustained injuries and has been taken to the 23 Brigade Medical Centre for treatment.

Items recovered from the fleeing terrorists include two Baofeng radios, one rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) charger, four empty magazines, and one loaded AK-47 magazine.

Though the exact number of enemy casualties remains unconfirmed, troops are said to be conducting pursuit operations and maintaining security dominance in the area.

Sources said the general security situation remains calm but unpredictable, with troops on heightened alert.
