Troops of the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force South South, Operation Delta Safe, have arrested 13 suspects during raids on hideouts of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Delta State.

This was contained in a statement signed by Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 63 Brigade, Asaba, on Saturday.

According to the statement, the army said the raids were carried out between July 26 and August 1, 2025, at Abacha Camp and Fulani Camp areas in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area.

“The operation was based on intelligence reports, and the arrested suspects were handed over to the 63 Military Intelligence Regiment for profiling.

“After the profiling, four of the suspects, Hossanah John, Obassey Maduabichi, Nwamini Nduka, and Aguyi Uchenna were confirmed to be IPOB/ESN collaborators.

“The other nine were found to have no links to the proscribed group and will be released to their families on sureties” the statement read.

The commander of the 63 Brigade and Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare praised the troops for their efforts.

He assured the public that the army remains committed to keeping Delta State safe and peaceful.

According to the statement, the confirmed IPOB/ESN suspects will be taken to higher authorities for further action.
