Troops foil kidnap attempt, rescue four along Funtua–Gusau road in Katsina

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, in joint operation with police patrol teams, on Monday thwarted a kidnap attempt and rescued four victims along the Funtua–Gusau Road in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The incident happened near Tudun Malamai village when armed men blocked the highway in an attempt to abduct the occupants of a Toyota Corolla with registration number FSK 94 ML, traveling from Zaria to Faskari.

According to Zagazola Makama the troops responded swiftly and engaged the gunmen in a fierce exchange of fire, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee into the bush.

The rescued victims were identified as Abubakar Hamisu, 36, of Faskari; Ashiru Saidu, 35, of Faskari; Kabir Sulaiman, 30, of Faskari town; and Bishir Ibrahim, 34, of Kagana village.

All four were rescued unharmed and taken to safety, while security forces have intensified patrols in the area to pursue the fleeing assailants.
