Troops Avert Major Fire Outbreak In Port Harcourt
Troops of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, in a remarkable display of swift response and coordination, have prevented a potentially devastating fire outbreak in Port Harcourt.
On Wednesday morning, a tanker carrying premium motor spirit (PMS) had fallen at Rumuokwuta Roundabout, posing a significant threat to lives and property in the area.
However, thanks to the prompt intervention of the Nigerian Army, disaster was averted.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations, the Acting Commanding Officer of the 760 Transport Battalion, Major Almustapha Shawwal Adams, swiftly mobilized and led the 6 Division Fire Crew to the scene.
“The operation, conducted in collaboration with sister agencies, ensured all safety and security protocols were strictly observed. The area was cordoned off, and necessary preventive drills were carried out to bring the situation under control,” Danjuma said.
However, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, commended the troops for their swift response.
Abdussalam reassured the people of Rivers State that the Division will continue to conduct people-centric operations, in line with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s command philosophy.
Meanwhile, No lives or property were lost in the incident.
