Troops attack bandits procession in Plateau, ammunitions recovered
Troops of Operation Lafiyan Jama’a, in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), have ambushed dangerously armed bandits in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
This was made possible after a credible intelligence report indicating the presence of bandits armed with AK-47 rifles on motorcycles along the Kampani-Kombodoro road.
According to Zagazola Makama, the sighting occurred at about 4:10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24.
The troops quickly responded with an ambush along the suspected route of the bandits near the Jeb Jeb community.
In a fierce gun battle at around 7:30 a.m., the bandits succumbed to superior gun power and fled the area with gunshot wounds, as evident by blood trails along their withdrawal route.
A subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle bearing serial number 563635618, two AK-47 magazines, and five rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition.
Military authorities confirmed that the recovered items are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing criminals.
