Troops arrest terrorist collaborators in North-East
Troops of operation Hadin Kai in collaboration with the Air Component, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters, have intercepted several collaborators and disrupted logistics networks of terrorist groups across the North-East.
Between July 15 and 22, 2025, troops arrested individuals suspected of supplying communications equipment, illicit drugs, IEDs, and arms-making materials to Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, one of the significant arrests occurred on July 19, when troops intercepted Mallam Aminu Idris at a checkpoint along the Kano–Maiduguri route. He was found in possession of unauthorized Starlink communication equipment and is suspected of delivering the tools to terrorist elements.
Earlier, on July 15, troops of 114 Battalion in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State intercepted a consignment of suspected terrorist logistics. Items recovered included four motorcycles, soft drinks, two bags of cement, and various foodstuffs.
On July 16, seven additional suspected logistics suppliers were arrested while conveying large quantities of consumables and other materials believed to be intended for insurgents.
Combat operations also recorded significant gains. On July 17, troops of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion on patrol at Amuda and Chinene in Gwoza LGA, Borno State, engaged terrorists in a gun battle, neutralizing one, while others fled.
A day later, on July 18, troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade conducted a successful night ambush along the Lambawa–Kalari road in Kaga LGA, killing a terrorist and recovering arms and spare parts.
Further successes were recorded on July 20 when troops uncovered a cache of IED-making materials around Takaskala in Madagali LGA and repelled an attempted infiltration in Monguno, recovering RPG bombs, ammunition, and other combat equipment.
On July 21, 10 family members of terrorists surrendered to troops in Bama LGA, Borno State. Preliminary investigations revealed that they had fled Gashua village in search of safety.
In another major development on July 22, troops intercepted a truck laden with logistics heading to Gamboru from Maiduguri. The truck was found to be carrying a 12V 220AH solar battery, 16 solar panels, three 2000W inverters, an inverter controller, cables, 100 gear regulators, two cartons of 60 gas carburetors, fridges, and assorted food items.
Additionally, several collaborators and informants, including a 15-year-old suspected of spying for terrorists, were apprehended during intelligence-led operations.
Major General Kangye noted that the intensified offensives have significantly weakened the operational capabilities of terrorist groups by disrupting their supply chains.
