Transfer: Tottenham set to hijack Chelsea’s move for Xavi Simons

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to hijack Chelsea’s attempt to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

According to BILD, the 22-year-old has flown into London for transfer talks.

Simons who is expected to cost up to £60 million, was a Chelsea target early in the summer window.

But it now appears the Blues are about to lose him to their London rivals.

Club officials have revealed that Simons has been “released until further notice for future discussions”.

Tottenham have not yet submitted an official offer, but have held introductory talks with Leipzig over a potential move.

Spurs manager, Thomas Frank, is desperate to bring in an attacking midfielder, following long-term injuries to James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.
