Transfer: Only players committed to Barcelona should wear club jersey – Raphinha on Nico Williams

Barcelona winger Raphinha has insisted that only players committed to the club should wear the Blaugrana’s jersey.
The Brazilian international said this while speaking on Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams rejecting a summer transfer move to Barcelona.

Recall that Williams came close to joining the Catalan club this summer transfer window.

The Spain winger had agreed to join the La Liga champions but made a U-turn at the last minute due to uncertainty regarding Barca registering him in the new La Liga season.

When asked about the development, Raphinha said (via The TouchlineX):

“Nico Williams? Those who don’t want to be here are better off not being here.

“And honestly, it’s good to have high-quality players who want to be at the club and wear this jersey,” he said.

Barcelona will never pursue Williams again, as the opportunity to bring him to Camp Nou has closed permanently.

Following Williams’ failed move to Barcelona, the player signed a new long-term contract with Athletic Bilbao.
