Transfer: Napoli nearing agreement for Hojlund as McTominay reaches out to Man Utd striker

Napoli are close to reaching an agreeing to sign Rasmus Hojlund with midfielder Scott McTominay playing a key role in convincing the Manchester United striker to join the Serie A giants.

Hojlund is not part of Man United manager Ruben Amorim’s plans this season.

The Denmark international is expected to leave told the Red Devils this summer after the Premier League club signed Benjamin Sesko as their new first-choice striker.

Hojlund is yet to play for Amorim’s side in the Premier League this season.

He has attracted interest from Napoli and AC Milan this summer transfer window.

However, according to Corriere dello Sport, Napoli are ‘edging ever closer’ to a deal with Hojlund with McTominay calling him over the weekend in a bid to persuade him to move to Italy.

The report added that the call is likely to be a ‘decisive step towards a definitive yes’ from Hojlund.

Hojlund has played in the Serie A before during his time at Atalanta.
