Transfer: Joe Cole names best signing of the summer, team to win EPL
Former Chelsea star, Joe Cole, has named Liverpool star, Florian Wirtz as the best signing of the 2025 summer transfer window.
According to him, the Reds are the favourites to claim the Premier League title again this season judging by the signings they have made this summer.
Liverpool won the Premier League title last season, beating off challenges from Arsenal.
Despite Premier League clubs, such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea spending almost £1bn this summer, the former England international believes it was the Reds that secured a statement signing.
Joe Cole told TNT Sports that Florian Wirtz is the signing of the summer.
“Liverpool have made a massive statement…He[Wirtz] absolutely brilliant.
“I think [Wirtz] is the signing of the summer…For me it’s the statement signing,” said Cole.
He described the Germany international who was signed for £100 million, as the best young player in the world.
“For me they are the most clear favourites to win the league we’ve had in the last ten years,” the former midfielder added.
Liverpool has already spent about £263.5m on players this summer.
The Premier League will commence next week with the Community Shield coming up today between Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
