Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, is ready to give the green light for the exit of at least six players ahead of the new season.

These include established first-team stars like John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan.

City have been busy in both the winter and summer transfer windows this year, after falling behind Liverpool and Arsenal in the title race last season.

Although more new signings could be made, a number of departures are also expected, with Guardiola keen to work with a smaller squad.

The Athletic reports that 31-year-old Stones is available for transfer.

Gundogan is another player who could be leaving, only one year after he returned to The Etihad from Barcelona.

Mateo Kovacic in being “touted” as a potential departee with the club looking to trim their squad.

The three others who could leave are Nico O’Reilly, Claudio Echeverri and Oscar Bobb.
