Transfer: Arteta gives update on Gyokeres’ move, new signings

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has hinted that a move for Sporting CP striker, Viktor Gyokeres, could be close.

The Gunners have been involved in a drawn-out negotiation for Gyokeres, who is desperate to return to England.

Although there is a broad agreement over a £63m deal, the Portuguese champions are determined to ensure the add-ons are easily achievable.

Arteta was asked about the transfer after Arsenal landed in Singapore for a preseason tour.

He replied: “I cannot comment on any player who is not part of our group yet.”

On new signings joining the squad in Asia, Arteta added: “There’s a still time in the window. In terms of numbers we are short.”
