Transfer: Amorim told to allow Hojlund battle Sesko for Man Utd role
Former Manchester United defender, Mikael Silvestre has urged manager Ruben Amorim not to rush to send striker Rasmus Hojlund on loan, despite the club being strongly linked with a move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
Man United are keen to sign a new number 9 this summer before the season will kick-start later this month.
The Red Devils have formally submitted their first bid for the Slovenian attacker.
However, Silvestre wants Hojlund to battle Sesko for the starting role under Amorim if the Slovenian joins the Premier League club.
Speaking to Hajper, Silvestre said: “Marcus Rashford has gone and there aren’t a lot of strikers around.
“Joshua Zirkzee is a different type of striker who doesn’t make those runs in behind the defence.
“He [ Ruben Amorim] is another type of player for certain games, certain opposition. But no, you need competition, need quality, so I would not rush into sending Rasmus Hojlund out on loan if Sesko signs. Absolutely not.”
